93 Points Excellent - Awatere River - Cam Douglas Review
Our latest reviews from Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas MS have just been released, and they highlight the excellence and character of two upcoming Awatere River wines — Chardonnay 2024 and Rosé 2025.
Both wines received glowing feedback, recognising the precision, balance, and distinct Awatere expression that continues to define our range.
Here’s what Cameron had to say:
93 Points - Excellent
Awatere River Chardonnay 2024
“Bright and youthful with a light yellow gold hue and hint of green. A bouquet of fresh peach and apple, some seaspray and grapefruit, a greywacke stone mineral baseline and fine lees complexity. As the wine takes on more air these aromas begin to intensify.
A dry wine on the palate, youthful and taut, deliciously fresh with a mix of peach and pineapple, apple and citrus framed by acidity and fine lees complexities. Taut and new, a wine that seems best for drinking from mid 2026 through 2031+.”

90 Points - Premium
Awatere River Rosé 2025.
“I love the colour and hues with a true pink and silver shimmer. Aromas and flavours of crushed red cherry and Asian pears, some fruit spice and red apple skin then a fine seam of mineral and textures from fruit tannins. Crisp, dry, fruity and delicious, a wine ready for summer 2026 and through 2028.”
